The Nutcracker Country Venue is situated just outside of Parys in the Free State, approximately an hour a half from Johannesburg, at the core of the Vredefort Dome, a natural World Heritage site.
This tranquil area is well known for the unique flora and geology, and is located along a scenic stretch of the Vaal River, making our wedding venue the ideal place to spend time away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
In 2010, The Nutcracker opened its doors as an exclusive wedding venue.
Our specialty is turning your occasion into an event to remember. As only a single wedding is hosted at a time, your wedding party can easily arrive on the Friday and leave on the Sunday with minimal stress and extended pleasure. The Nutcracker estate is owner managed and can assist with coordinating your occasion. From antique furniture to sparkling glass chandeliers, and a chapel overlooking an idyllic part of the river, no effort is spared in providing the most luxurious and spellbinding experience for the bridal couple and their guests. Apart from being the perfect wedding venue, The Nutcracker is also a working pecan nut farm, our delicious harvest is routinely exported to Europe and the Far East.
IN-HOUSE CATERING
All our menu items are prepared by our Executive Chef on site, with the highest quality ingredients. We differentiate ourselves by providing quality food with an emphasis on taste, presentation and good old fashioned wholesomeness. Our menus offer tremendous diversity as food has become a mainstay of our special offering.
WEDDING CAKES
We can make your dream cake a reality, creating any cake - from a traditional cake with rolled fondant or royal icing and piping, to the more unusual, following the latest trends and innovations.
RECEPTION VENUE
Your wedding reception takes place in our elegantly designed venue overlooking the Vaal River, with a tasteful blend of Oregon-framed windows, antique wooden tables and chairs and beautiful glass chandeliers that create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The venue comfortably seats up to 160 guests with a large dance floor.
BAR FACILITIES
A cash bar with card payment facility is conveniently available in the main reception venue, close to the dance floor and DJ. An open bar can also be accommodated by prior arrangement.
CHAPEL / OUTSIDE CEREMONY
Your ceremony can be held in our quaint chapel next to the Vaal River which has large open windows with a free flow of fresh air that creates the feeling of being part of nature. Its entrance door is breathtakingly beautiful as a photographic feature. Alternatively, an outdoor ceremony can be held on our lush, green lawns overlooking the Vaal River.
PICNIC AREA
The picnic area is ideal for serving starters. It’s a break-away from conventional seated starters where guests can relax, eat, drink, and enjoy the surroundings while the bridal party take the opportunity for their photographic session.
OPEN AIR VENUE
Our open-air venue is a comfortable and cosy space ideally situated next to the river for your Friday night braai get together, or as an area to serve your guests arrival drinks prior to the ceremony.
It could also provide an undercover alternative to the picnic area to serve starters, or possibly even a photo booth area close to the main reception venue.
ACCOMMODATION
Uniquely, The Nutcracker Wedding Venue accommodates the bridal party and their guests, the entire farm is dedicated to your wedding. Accommodation for up to 30 guests arriving on Friday and departing on Sunday is available on the estate.
There are two accommodation options available: The Homestead: The Homestead is luxuriously decorated and fully equipped, comfortably accommodating 10 guests, including the bride and groom. The Homestead is ideal for entertaining as it offers an outside braai area overlooking the river, an open plan kitchen, dining room and lounge. It comprises of 3 semi-detached rooms, featuring the bridal suite (en-suite), with the remaining two rooms sharing a bathroom. Bed & Breakfast Rooms: 10 Double en-suite B&B rooms sleep 20 guests in total and are located adjacent to the restaurant, overlooking the pool area, providing a relaxed environment.
IN-HOUSE DJ
Our experienced crew members maintain highly professional service standards, accommodating your special requests and play lists. Our DJ package includes music prior to the ceremony as guests begin to arrive, during the ceremony, during the picnic, and throughout the reception.
PROFESSIONAL SERVICE
We take pride in the personalised service we provide, from the day we greet you on your arrival until the day you leave.
We assist with all the individual B&B room bookings, table configurations, and all the finer details of your wedding day. We can also suggest service providers from the area to help make the planning process easier for you.
WAITERS & BARMEN
Waiters and barmen are made available and provide you and your guests with excellent service on your special day.
DÉCOR
We have a selection of décor available for hire upon request. Décor options range from candelabras, to under-plates, vases, ice coolers, confetti containers, and more.
PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
All aspects of the venue, such as the architecture, river scenery, mountains, pecan nut orchard, jetty and open lawns, lend themselves to idyllic photographic opportunities.
SHUTTLE SERVICE
A shuttle service collecting guests from Parys can be arranged, at specific collection times, for utmost convenience.
