Powering up 

Ensure external wiring is correctly connected to TB1.

Ensure the lever of the Tamper switch is correctly adjusted to provide full protection of the Unit.

Ensure the base is firmly fixed to the wall.

Ensure internal BATTERY LINK header is set to ON with the plug-in jumper fitted across ON. Check the RED LED illuminates showing the internal battery is being charged.

Ensure the outer cover is secured to the base using the screw and plastic screw cap.

The status indicators should flash showing the Hold-Off supply (Green LED) and the Tamper circuit are healthy (Red LED)

After powering up the system, the internal battery of Vortex II will require 10 hours to reach a fully charged state.

Engineering Test mode Once Hold-off voltage has been applied to the Vortex II; it will immediately enter the engineering test mode. This engineering test mode will last for 15 minutes. During this time, if a trigger is applied to the Strobe/Sounder input, the Strobe/Sounder will flash/sound for 5 seconds. In this mode the Vortex II also will by-pass the tamper alarm. When the Vortex II exits the engineering test mode, the twin status Red/Green LED indicator will change from simultaneous to alternative flashing.

Tests 1

Test the operation of the sounder and the timer in self contained mode by removing power.

2

Test the operation of the front cover tamper.

3

Test the operation of the strobe and the sounder by generating an alarm condition (or test) at the control panel.
