PA Safety Inspection Mechanic Renewal Training Class J. Kaplafka By appointment 3 hrs. 6 – 9 p.m. $75. Mechanics may renew their mechanic certification by passing the required examination within 180 days of notification from PennDOT that their mechanic card is due to expire. This new recertification requires you to pass an online exam in order to renew your certification and the certification is valid for five years. This training class will help mechanics to successfully pass the online exam. CMAVTS will provide mechanics the opportunity to take the online exam after the training class. Mechanics must complete the online registration with PennDOT at www.patrainingportal.com before arriving to the training class and must have their Access Code and account information available in order to test online at CMAVTS.
