User Agreement

User Agreement By installing the Bid Manager Software, you are agreeing to the terms of this Agreement. If you do not agree to the terms of this agreement, promptly remove the Software from any and all computers and return the Bid Manager Software and all related Software documentation to Eaton Corporation. Copyright and Duplication. The Software enclosed is protected by the copyright laws of the United States, Canada and other countries. You must comply with the applicable law. Nondisclosure. You shall hold the Software confidential, shall not disclose the Software to others, and shall use the Software only as set forth herein. You shall not disassemble, decompile, or modify the Software. The data and information included in the Software program is proprietary information of Eaton Corporation and may be used by you solely for the purpose of pricing and configuring products. It shall not be used for any other purpose or disclosed to any third party. Use of this Software is limited to authorized distributors of Eaton Corporation. Upon termination of the Distributor Agreement between the user and Eaton Corporation for any reason, all rights pursuant to this Agreement shall terminate; user shall cease any further use of the Software; user shall immediately remove the Software from all computers and return the Software and all supporting documentation to Eaton Corporation. The calculations, procedures, and selections made by Bid Manager generally follow those required and defined by the National Electric Code (NEC)/Canadian Electrical Code (CEC)/International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). However, there are certain inevitable limitations to the applicability of this Software. Bid Manager Software should be used only as an aid in performing calculations and evaluations. It is in no way intended to be a replacement for the careful exercise of sound engineering judgment that must take place on every project. An engineer is responsible, using his or her knowledge of the NEC/CEC and of the project, to enter data correctly, to properly evaluate the displayed results, and to determine if the results validly apply to the project under consideration. This Software may interfere or corrupt other software and data in the PC on which this Software is used. Eaton Corporation disclaims any responsibility and liability for corruption of Software or data with which this Software is used.

Installing Bid Manager

Installing Bid Manager This section explains how Eaton sales and plant users can install Bid Manager. These instructions apply to Windows operating systems.If you have any questions, contact Eaton Enterprise Support by calling 1-800-468-1705, option 3 or by sending an e-mail to [email protected]. To install Bid Manager: 1.

Insert the Gold CD in your CD drive. TIP: Quit all open applications before proceeding with these instructions. The Bid Manager window appears.

Click the Install Bid Manager button. The Bid Manager Setup window appears.

Click OK.

4.

Click the Next button. The Software License Agreement window appears.

5.

Click the Yes button. The Bid Manager Setup window appears asking you to choose a type of setup.

6.

Select the release you want to install, and then click the Next button. The Select Program Folder window appears.

7.

Click the Next button. A message appears asking if you want to back up your database.

8.

Click the Yes button. The Database Backup window appears.

9.

Click the Next button.

The Choose Destination Location window appears. 10. Click the Next button. Your database is backed up and then the Start Copying window appears. 11. Click the Next button. Bid Manager installs on your computer. This process may take a few minutes. 12. Click the Finish button. The ReadMe file appears in Acrobat Reader, and the installation is complete. NOTE: If you do not have Acrobat Reader installed on your computer, then click the following link to download the installation file: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

Setting Up Bid Manager Overview

Opening Bid Manager

After installing Bid Manager, you can set it up to ensure that you can open it and that it is ready for you to start using the application. This section describes how to: •

Open and register Bid Manager



Connect to a drawer



Synchronize your data



Work with multiple users from the same computer

To open Bid Manager: 1.

Double-click the Bid Manager icon on your desktop,



Or, click the Start button, select Programs, select Bid Manager, and then select Bid Manager.

If the Bid Manager Login dialog box appears, then type your login ID and password, and then click OK. The main Bid Manager window appears. If you are opening Bid Manager for the first time, then the Register as a new Bid Manager User dialog box appears.

Registering Bid Manager The first time you open Bid Manager, the Register as a new Bid Manager User dialog box appears. You only need to enter the information in this dialog box once; after you are established as a Bid Manager user on that computer and you have logged on to Windows, Bid Manager recognizes your user name.

To register Bid Manager: 1.

In the User Information area, complete the Organization Name, Full Name, and Sales ID

To obtain your serial number and confirmation key, either: •

If you are able to access the Internet, then click the Request Confirmation Key button. Please click once and allow a few minutes for processing.

In the Localization area, click the Locale drop-down box and select your location.

Click the Currency drop-down box and select your default currency.

Click the OK button. You are registered as a Bid Manager user, and the main Bid Manager window appears.

Synchronizing your Data

After installing Bid Manager, you should synchronize your data to ensure that all of the features will operate properly. To synchronize your data: 1.

In Bid Manager, click the Tools menu and then click Utilities. The Bid Manager Maintenance Utility dialog box appears.

2.

Click the Data Synchronization button. The Bid Manager Data Synchronization window appears and downloads the information you need.

3.

Click the Close button when the process is complete. Your data is synchronized.

Connecting to a Drawer

Your Bid Manager information is stored either on your computer (called your Personal Drawer) or on a remote computer (called the server; also known as the Home Drawer). You may choose where you would like to store your data. By connecting to a drawer, you can share information such as folders, jobs, and alternates with other Bid Manager users. NOTE: You must have a home drawer established and be connected to a network to connect to a home drawer.

To connect to a drawer: 1.

In Bid Manager, click the Tools menu, and then click Connect to Drawer. A message appears if this is the first time you have tried to connect to a home drawer.

Click Yes.

Your home drawer, and any other drawer you connected to, appears in the directory area.

Multiple Bid Manager Users

Bid Manager is capable of recognizing more than one person using the same computer. Each person using Bid Manager has a separate Personal Drawer and you are only able to view your own Personal Drawer. Bid Manager uses the Windows log-in dialog box to determine who is using the computer. If you are logged into Windows and another user wants to use Bid Manager, then you must log off and then log on as a different user. NOTE: You are able to share folders in your Personal Drawer so other users using the same computer can view them.
