Gulshan Nanda : Popular Hindi Fiction writer by newseditor
Gulshan Nanda's novels were waited by readers all over North India and were sold in millions on literally every book stall or store on popular corners of all North Indian cities. He was known more for his pocketbook style books sold as pulp fiction but he was genuinely good author and was not considered a classical literary figure simply because he wrote romantic fiction and his works were published in popular format. Many of his popular novels were made into very popular movies. Gulshan Nanda, was popular Indian novelist and screenwriter, many of whose novels were adapted into Hindi films in 1960s and 1970s, including over a dozen big hits of the period, Kaajal (1965), Kati Patang (1970), Khilona (1970), Sharmeelee (1971) and Daag (1973). His stories ranged from social, romantic to action thrillers.He was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Story six times, Kaajal (1965), Neel Kamal (1968), Khilona (1970), Kati Patang (1970) and Naya Zamana (1971) and Mehbooba (1976).He passed away on November 16, 1985.His son Rahul Nanda is veteran publicity designer for Bollywood and conceived the concept of Akshay Kumar starrer, Patiala House.One of the fans wrote about the favorite author :"Gulshan Nanda has been one of the most successfull novelists of our times.
