How Do I Access UF’s EndNote Web Service? The University of Florida’s EndNote Web application is maintained by the George A. Smathers Libraries. It can be accessed by clicking the “Endnote Web Login” link on the library’s EndNote Web site at http://web.uflib.ufl.edu/endnoteweb.html or by navigating to EndNote Web directly at http://www.myendnoteweb.com/
How Do I Login to My EndNote Web Account?
To login to your EndNote Web account, go to http://www.myendnoteweb.com/ as seen in the interface below. Enter your email address (
[email protected]) and your account password then click the “Log‐in” button.

How Do I Add citations to My Groups? There are two ways citations can be added to your groups: Manual Entry of citations and Importing citations from an Online Database. Manual entry requires you to use EndNote Web’s “New Reference” tool (located under the “Collect” tab) to enter the particulars of your publication.
Importing citations from a database requires you to locate your publications in a database and export them to your EndNote Web account.

How Do I Place a citation in my Shared Group So It Appears In My Unit Administrator’s List? To place a citation in a shared group so it appears in the unit administrators list click the “Collect” tab at the EndNote web main menu. Then click “New Reference” under the collection tab. You will see the screenshot displayed below.
Choosing the proper citation type is important because it ensures accuracy with your reporting. To choose a citation type, select an option from the drop down box next to “Reference Type”.
Once you have chosen the desired type of citation, the text fields for that citation will adjust according to the type of citation you choose. Fill out the necessary fields of the citation and click a space outside the textbox to automatically save each listing. 3
IMPORTANT: When reporting refereed journal articles, type “Refereed” in the “Type of Article” field as seen below.
How Do I Back Up My Citation List? To back up your EndNote Library from an EndNote Web Desktop you can use the following method to keep a local copy of your library in EndNote X1, X2, X3 or X4. http://www.endnoteweb.com/support/faqs/Import/faq2.asp You can also export references into a format that can be imported again. To do this, use the Reference Manager or Ref Man (RIS) styles: 1) In www.myendnoteweb.com go to the Format tab. 2) Choose Export References directly below the “Format” tab. 3) Change the settings as follows: References: All References in My Library Export style: RefMan (RIS) Export. Click “Save” and keep the resulting text file as a backup of your references. This file can be imported into EndNote Desktop, EndNote Web, Reference Manager and ProCite.
How Do I Add EDIS citations to My Groups? To add EDIS citations into EndNote Web you will first need to generate a list of your EDIS citations using the IFAS publication search tool. To do this, go to http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/dosearch.html. You will see the screenshot below.

Type your name into the author field, and click the “Search” button. This will generate a list of any EDIS publications which contain your name in the author field. After this is completed, you will see an option to “Output your results in EndNote format”. Click the “Export” button. This will provide you with a list of EDIS citations in EndNote format. To do this, click the “File” menu on your web browser and click “Save page as”. Give the file a name and be sure to select “Text (.txt)” from the file type drop down menu to save it as a text file. Click “Save”. 5
You now have a complete list of your EDIS citations in a format that can be imported into EndNote Web. To import these citations, log into your EndNote Web account, go to the “Collect” tab from the EndNote Web main menu. Click on the “Import References” option. You will be presented with the interface seen below.
Continue the import process by clicking the “Browse” button to locate the EDIS citation text file you saved earlier. Next, select “EndNote Import” from the filter list and select which folder you want to send your citations to. Click “Import” to import the text file. When done correctly, the result will look similar to the screenshot seen below.

Your newly added citations can now be managed just as you would any other citations in your EndNote Web account.
How do I configure the UF Virtual Private Network (VPN) to access EndNote Web? Before you can use EndNote Web from an on off‐campus location, you need to connect to the UF VPN. To connect to the VPN follow the tutorial below. 1. First download and install the GatorLink VPN software. You can acquire this software at this web site: http://net‐services.ufl.edu/cgi‐bin/vpn/vpn‐ clients.cgi You will have to enter a valid GatorLink ID and password before you can enter the web site. Select the first choice Windows XP/Vista. (Other versions are available, if you are using a Mac). 2. Download the file to your desktop. Once your download has finished, open the folder you selected, and run the file. 3. Click OK/Next through the install process. 4. When the software has been installed, you can run it by going to your Start Menu, selecting All Programs, then Cisco Systems Gatorlink VPN Client, and finally clicking the GatorLink VPN Client. 5. The GatorLink VPN Client will then run. Just click the Connect button, and you will be asked to enter your username and password. When logging into the VPN, you need to use your
[email protected], not just your username. Once you’ve entered your username and password, click the OK button. 6. You will now see a small yellow lock icon in the lower right‐hand corner of your screen (in the system tray, on the lower right‐hand side of the screen). Once you see that lock, you are connected. 7. Once you are connected to the VPN, you can now access EndNote Web. To do this, navigate to http://research.ifas.ufl.edu, open the IFAS Shortcuts list, and select “EndNote Web” from the list.
How do I import citations from the Web of Science to EndNote Web? There are two ways you can add citations from the Web of Science to Endnote Web:

1. The first way to import citations from the Web of Science into EndNote Web is to login to your EndNote Web account and search the Web of Science for the citations you want to import into Endnote Web. Next, click the “Save to Endnote Web” button located just above the search results (on the same tab with “Print” “Email” “Add to Marked List” etc) in the WOS. You will be directed to a screen that says “Processing Records” and your citations will be automatically transferred from the Web of Science to Endnote Web. Refresh the page in your EndNote Web account to find your newly added citations. 2. The second way to import citations from the Web of Science to Endnote Web is to select the citations you want to import and click the “Add to Marked List” button. After this is done, the citations should appear in the marked list tab located in the upper left hand corner of the screen next to the “Search” and “Search History” buttons. Click the “Marked List” button. You will be directed to a screen that is titled All Databases Marked Records. Skip to step 2. Before you save your citations you will need to select the default text type for them. So in the drop down box next to the “Save to File” button select Tabs Delimited (windows) and click the “Save to File” button. A pop‐up box will appear. Select the “save file” option and save the file to your desktop for easy access. If the pop‐up box is blocked simply click the save button on the Web of Science site (located above the Return button). And you will be able to continue the process. After you have saved the text file to your desktop; log‐in to your Endnote Web account (to import the text file). Go to the “Collect” tab and click on “Import References”. Browse for the text file you saved to your desktop and upload it. After this, select the “Web of Science” as the filter option for the file. Choose the folder you want to send the publications to (drop down box next to the “To” option) and click the “Import” button. Your publications will now be available in your Endnote Web account and located in the group/folder you selected.

How do I transfer my citations between EndNote Desktop and EndNote Web? If you have EndNote version 10.02 or later, in your library go to “Tools > EndNote Web…” (in EndNote X1 or later) or “Tools > Transfer References…” (in EndNote X.0.2) and put in your EndNote Web account information in order to transfer references back and forth between EndNote Desktop and EndNote Web. Please note that this method allows you to transfer only 500 records at a time. If you have EndNote 9 or earlier, you can export references from Endnote Web to a format that can be imported into EndNote. To do this: 1. Create your export list in your EndNote Web library 2. Click the Export link in the left navigation pane, under Organize References. 3. Export references from EndNote Web following the export instructions using “RefMan (RIS) Export” as the export style. 4. Click the “Save To” button and save the export file to your computer. 5. Open EndNote. 6. Open an existing library or create a new library to receive the EndNote Web references. 7. Select Import from the File Menu. 8. In the Import dialog, click Browse to select the export file. 9. Select “Reference Manager (RIS)” as the Import Option. 10.For EndNote 8 or later, select “No Translation” as the Text Translation.
