Frequently Asked Questions ABOUT THE CHALLENGE

1.

What is the Rep with Steps Challenge?

The Rep with Steps Challenge is an inter-school physical activity competition to rally students from Secondary Schools and Junior Colleges to be more physically active every day, anytime and anywhere, by clocking steps to win prizes for their school.

2. How does the Rep with Steps Challenge work? The Rep with Steps Challenge is a 10-week challenge from 15 February to 22 April 2016. Every step you take counts towards the total number of steps accumulated collectively by your school. The winning schools are the top 3 schools with the highest daily average number of steps achieved per student during the official challenge period (i.e. total number of steps accumulated by all participating students in the school / {total number of days of the challenge x total number of participating students}). A cash reward of $1,000 will also be given to 5 other schools with the next highest daily average step count:

Who can sign up for the Rep with Steps Challenge?

The Rep with Steps Challenge is open only to nominated students currently enrolled in the participating Secondary Schools and Junior Colleges. This includes Singaporeans, Permanent Residents and Foreigners.

5. When does the Rep with Steps Challenge start? The official challenge period lasts for 10 weeks, from 15 February to 22 April 2016. You can accumulate steps for the Rep with Steps Challenge anytime during this period.

6. Can I join the Rep with Steps Challenge if I am not from any of the participating schools? No, it is a closed challenge. Only participating schools are allowed to join the challenge. The next run of Inter-School Steps Challenge will be open for schools’ registration in late 2016; details will be announced to schools at a later date. In the meantime, stay active!

PARTICIPATING IN THE CHALLENGE

How do I participate in the Rep with Steps Challenge?

Only nominated students from the participating schools are able to join the challenge. Please check with your respective teacher in charge to confirm if you are eligible for this challenge. After which,

you may download the Healthy 365 app available on the App Store or Google Play store and register for your school’s Rep with Steps challenge on the app. Next, collect your steps tracker from your school or at the Rep with Steps roadshows. Pair your steps tracker to the app, and you’re ready to start moving to accumulate steps.

You will need to sync your steps tracker with the Healthy 365 app via Bluetooth® to accumulate steps. Please note that the steps tracker can only store up to 7 days of data, so do sync your steps at least once every week to avoid losing data.

If you do not have a smartphone or if your smartphone is not compatible with the Healthy 365 app, you can sign up for the challenge at the Rep with Steps roadshows which will be held in your school. Please refer to FAQ no. 12.

8. Must I pay to join Rep with Steps? No, joining the Rep with Steps Challenge is free of charge.

9. How do I collect my HPB steps tracker? Your school will distribute the HPB steps tracker to you or you can collect it at the Rep with Steps Challenge roadshows. Please contact your teachers who are in charge of the Rep with Steps Challenge for further enquiries on the collection of your steps tracker.

10. Can I sign up on behalf of my friends or family members for Rep with Steps? No, each individual must sign up personally on a smartphone or at the Rep with Steps roadshows. Please note that each smartphone can only be registered with one account.

11. Can more than one person register on the same smartphone? No, each smartphone can only be registered with one account.

12. Must I have a smartphone to join Rep with Steps? If not, how do I sign up and participate? No, it is not necessary.

If you do not have a smartphone, you can sign up at the Rep with Steps Challenge roadshows held at your school. You will be issued a HPB steps tracker upon signing up. You are required to sync the steps tracker with the Healthy 365 kiosk installed in your school at least once every 7 days. Alternatively, you may also visit any Healthy 365 kiosk in selected Guardian and SPORTSLINK outlets to sync your steps tracker.

Find out where and when the roadshows are happening from the teacher in charge from your school.

13. Where are the Healthy 365 kiosks located? The Healthy 365 kiosks can be found in your school (please check with the teacher in charge from your school on the location of the kiosk) as well as selected Guardian and SPORTSLINK stores islandwide.

14. Who can use the Healthy 365 kiosks? The Healthy 365 kiosks are meant to cater for participants without smartphones. If you do not have a smartphone, you must use the Healthy 365 kiosk to sync your steps at least once every 7 days.

15. Do I need internet connection to use the Healthy 365 app? The Healthy 365 app needs a data plan or internet connection in order to register for the challenge and to refresh the challenge performance and Leader board. Syncing steps from your steps tracker only requires Bluetooth® connection but internet connection will be required to upload the synced data to the backend system to be reflected on the Leader board.

16. If I forgot to wear my steps tracker on certain days, is there another way to record my steps taken? No. Please remember to wear your steps tracker and sync your steps tracker to the Healthy 365 app or kiosk at least once every 7 days to avoid losing your steps data.

17. Can I pair other branded steps trackers with the Healthy 365 app to sync my steps data? The Healthy 365 app currently supports the HPB steps tracker, Fitbit® tracker and/or the Google Fit app. However, you can only use the HPB steps tracker to participate in the Rep with Steps challenge.

18. What if my steps tracker becomes faulty while I am participating in the Challenge?

Your steps tracker has a warranty period of 1 year. If your steps tracker is found to be faulty due to a manufacturing defect upon assessment by our technician, please bring along the steps tracker user guide containing the warranty number which will allow you to do a one for one exchange. Every steps tracker packaging comes along with a user guide appended within.

If you are a smartphone user, please refer to FAQ no. 19 for the list of places where you can replace your faulty steps tracker.

You will need to pair your new steps tracker as soon as you have replaced it to prevent losing steps data, by doing the following: a) Select “Apps” on the menu bar and tap on the “Change Tracker” button (located under “HPB Steps Tracker”. Tap the green sync button that appears on the screen. Please ensure you have switched on Bluetooth® connection on your smartphone and that the new steps tracker is placed next to your smartphone. b) The app will prompt you to enter a 4-digit code. Please enter the code displayed on your steps tracker and tap on ‘Submit’. If you only see the current time and not another 4 digit code, please tap “Resend Code” to try again. c) Pairing complete! Note that the step count recorded for today will be the higher of the two steps trackers. Do remember to sync at least once every 7 days. If you are a non-smartphone user, you will have to visit Customer Care Centre located at the Health Promotion Board Building. Our customer service officers can provide support for one-for-one exchange of faulty steps trackers. 19. What happens if I lose my HPB steps tracker? You may purchase another steps tracker at the retail price of $23.90 from these retail outlets: 1. D-I-Y TROUBLESHOOTING

20. Why am I unable to complete registration for the Rep with Steps Challenge? Please ensure that your smartphone has internet connection. If so, our servers are may be under maintenance at the moment. Please try again later. If the problem persists, please email us at [email protected] or call us at 1800 567 2020.

21. What do I do if I accidentally registered for the wrong challenge? Please email us at [email protected] or call us at 1800 567 2020. Please also provide details to explain the issue and let us know your NRIC so we can make the necessary changes for you.

22. Why am I unable to pair my steps tracker to the Healthy 365 app? Please ensure that your steps tracker is placed next to your smartphone, your smartphone’s Bluetooth is switched on and that there are no other Actxa Stride Bluetooth devices nearby. Check

that you keyed into the app the correct 4-digit code displayed on your steps tracker. If not, please resend another code until pairing is successful. If the problem persists, please email us at [email protected] or call us at 1800 567 2020.

23. Why am I unable to sync my steps tracker to the Healthy 365 app? Please ensure that this steps tracker was paired to your smartphone at registration and that the steps tracker is charged (check the power bar on the steps tracker). Once Bluetooth connection is available, steps should be automatically synced from the steps tracker to the Healthy 365 app. If not, please try to sync manually by tapping on the green sync button at the “Dashboard” page. If the problem still persists, please restart the Healthy 365 app and try again. For further enquiries, please email us at [email protected] or call us at 1800 567 2020.

24. The steps that are synced from my HPB steps tracker are inaccurate. / No steps are transferred to the Healthy 365 app after syncing. Please try to sync manually by tapping on the green sync button on the “Dashboard” page. If the problem still persists, please restart the Healthy 365 app and try again. 25. Why is the screen on my steps tracker blank? Tap on the sensor on the left side of the screen. If this does not work, it is possible that your steps tracker has run out of battery. Please charge it and try again.

26. My steps tracker does not track my steps. It is possible your steps tracker has run out of battery. Please charge it and try again. Do note that there is a possibility of losing previous days’ data should the steps tracker run out of battery. 27. I accidentally deleted or re-installed the Healthy 365 app and now my data is missing. We have released the Data Restoration feature to restore the data that was last synced to the server (which is done once a day upon launching the app). To access this feature: a) Tap on “Profile” on the menu bar of the app b) Tap on “Restore Profile”

c) Key in your NRIC and mobile number (as entered during registration) and tap on ‘Restore Now’. Your data should appear on the profile page.

28. Can I change my phone mid-way through the Rep with Steps challenge? Yes, you may do so. If you would like to retain your challenge progress in your new smartphone, please do the following: a) Uninstall the app from your old smart phone b) Install the app to your new smart phone c) Use the data restoration feature to restore your last data that was synced to the server

To access this feature: a) Tap on “Profile” on the menu bar of the app b) Tap on “Restore Profile” c) Key in your NRIC and mobile number (as entered during registration) and tap on “Restore Now”. Your data should appear on the profile page.

Please do this as soon as you have gotten your new smart phone.

29. I lost my smartphone, will I lose all my steps data? No, you can restore the data that was last synced to the server (which is done once a day upon launching the app). Once you have gotten a new smart phone, pls follow steps listed as per Question 28.

AFTER THE CHALLENGE

30. When the Rep with Steps Challenge ends, what do I do with the HPB steps tracker? The steps tracker is yours to keep. We encourage all participants to continue using the steps tracker to track their activity levels and overall energy balance each day. We hope this motivates you to make a conscious effort to stay active.

31. Will there be any penalty if I decide to withdraw or drop out halfway from the Rep with Steps Challenge?

No penalty will be imposed. However, as the winning schools are determined by the average number of steps achieved per student, a collective effort is required to put your school in a better position to clinch the top rankings. By dropping out, you will not contribute to your school’s average.
