CAFÉDIRECT At Cafédirect, we know that the best coffee, tea and cocoa starts with the best growers. So we source exclusively from smallholder growers whose personal care and attention leads to an extra special taste. But small isn’t always beautiful. Smallholder growers in remote communities are the least able to realise the benefits of their harvest, and most vulnerable to risks such as climate change. That’s why we do things differently. We go direct, working in partnership with smallholder growers, to cut out the middleman, and give growers a greater share of the benefits. It’s the perfect blend! MISSION We are an innovative social enterprise driven by our dynamic mission to change lives and build communities through inspirational, sustainable business. We focus our social and economic impact in the developing world. We believe that there is a better way to do business (and it’s not always the easiest!) that has a truly positive impact on the people and planet it touches. Providing an important link between the grower and consumer communities, the business works with over 39 grower organisations across 13 developing countries, encompassing over quarter of a million farmers and directly improving the lives of more than 1.6 million people around the world. Founded in 1991 in response to the collapse of the International Coffee Agreement, Cafédirect has been pioneering grower initiatives and consumer engagements for 20 years. Cafédirect was the first 100% Fairtrade drinks brand and is the UK’s number one Fairtrade coffee brand We are an award-winning business, with the latest recognition being the Social Impact Award at the 2011 Guardian Sustainable Business Awards. Over the past 4 years, The Guild of Fine Foods has awarded Cafédirect products 20 prestigious Great Taste Awards. Our brands are stocked in all of the major supermarkets in the UK, as well as independent retailers and whole food stores, and we have an impressive growing profile in the UK out-of-home sector.
