IT’S HAPPENING! ! WE WILL BECOME ST. PETER’S PARISH! ! Bishop LaValley recently consulted with the Council of Priests in our diocese, to consider our request to form one parish from our currently existing two. The proposal was approved. This means in the very near future, we will become ST. PETER’S PARISH. In the coming year, 2018, we will be busy with the legal process of establishing St. Peter’s Parish . . . and even more importantly, creating the culture to attain the vision we’ve been reflecting on throughout Advent. ! WEDNESDAY PRAYER, 6:30pm, ! Sacred Heart Church! ! ! All are welcome to join in a time of quiet intercessory prayer for parish renewal, as well as any other intentions you may have on your mind and heart. Our “Novena of Wednesdays” continues this week, on December 27th at 6:30pm. If you are unable to physically be present at Sacred Heart on Wednesdays at 6:30pm, consider stopping and offering a simple prayer for the intentions of parish renewal right where you happen to be. An Important Note About Our! CHRISTMAS COLLECTION!
! Traditionally, the Christmas collection is a “split” collection that is, a significant portion of the offering at Christmas is sent to the Diocese of Ogdensburg Retirement Plan for Priests. The exact proportion is determined from year to year by the number and needs of the retired priests in our diocese. Also, 100% of the cost of health insurance premiums for retired priests is paid by the Plan. Because of this, 75% of the Christmas collection will go to the priests’ retirement fund. You will notice that the envelopes for Christmas Day in the packets for our envelope users; 75% of offerings made with the Christmas envelope will be earmarked for the priests’ retirement fund. ! “S D” 12 W P! ! The Diocesan Family Life Office is pleased to announce an exciting new ministry that will bring hope and healing to those who have experienced the pain and loneliness of a broken marriage. Surviving Divorce features twelve video presentations that cover topics such as shock and grief, anger and forgiveness, money issues, dealing with children and a former spouse, and annulment and remarriage. This program is for the newly separated and divorced and those still struggling with issues many years later. It will help them find answers to their questions, restore their hope, and begin authentic healing.! The twelveweek program begins on January 25th from 6:30 to 8:30pm at St. Mary’s Church in Canton and will meet weekly in the sacristy. The cost of the program for participants includes the Surviving Divorce Personal Guide and all program materials is $25. Believe and Create is an opportunity to create a piece of art work to bring home the same evening. Adults sessions are being scheduled at St. Mary’s Social Hall. Watch for updates in the bulletins and web pages. ! All are welcome.! TRAVELING ROSARY FOR VOCATIONS! ! A new activity began in the month of October!! We have initiated a Traveling Rosary. We are encouraging individuals and families to take the rosary home with them to pray for vocations. The rosary can be found in a cloth bag on the Marion Altar of Sacred Heart Church with a prayer book. Please consider taking it for a week and returning it for the next.
