PORTAGE EVANGELICAL CHURCH August 2nd, 2015 We have attended PEC for 25 years and we enjoy the multi-generations that make up this congregation. Our son, Kevin, and daughter-in-law, Megan, have been married for nine years and live five miles south east of Portage on the yard where we lived for 17 years. Kevin owns a truck/trailer unit hauling grain and fertilizer. Megan is a stay at home mom. Their children are Jackson, Kolton and Keira. Our daughter, Lori, and son-in-law, Jeremy Schierer, live in Townsville, Queensland, Australia. Here they work with Youth with a Mission and Jeremy is the captain of the missions’ medical ship with which they do work in the remote villages of Papua New Guinea. Their children are Monty and Reuben. Anna works at the MCC Thrift Shop three and half days a week. She also likes reading, making cards, nature, and playing with their grandchildren. She is waiting for an MRI appointment to see what will be done with the fractured vertebrae in her back. Reynold is at YFC here in Portage. Reynold has been having seizures for the last two years and in Dec of 2013 was diagnosed with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy. In August 2015, he will be getting another test done to see if there is anything else going on. On Aug. 3, he will be starting to decrease two of his three seizure medications (under direction of his neurologist). Those two have to be out of his system by Aug. 24th when he will have an EEG monitor attached to his head (at the Health Sciences Center) for four days of continuous monitoring. He will come home but will have to go in the next three days to have the recordings transferred to computers and check if the wires are all in place. He is also not allowed to drive during this whole process. We have no clue what his body will go through during this time, but we know we are in God’s hands and your prayers on our behalf are very much appreciated.

PRAYER & PRAISE Nolan – Nolan continues to receive Chemotherapy via both IV and spinal fluid injections. Pray that he avoids complications like infection and stroke and that through everything God's will would be done in and through him. Please pray for Ed Nikkel as he continues to recover from a stroke. Aiden Paas- we thank God for all of you, for your prayers which helped us through. We would still appreciate prayer for this next stage, as the highest probability of a recurrence is in the first year following the completion of the chemotherapy treatments. Praise God for the 8 children who accepted Christ at Highway Pentecostal VBS last week! Dakota Tipi - Attendance has been low the last few weeks. Please pray for the believers to be encouraged. Pray for an awakening/revival in the hearts of the residents in this community.

Travel west out of Portage on the #1 Hwy; then turn north onto the #16; travel until you get to the #50 heading for Langruth, turn onto that road; go through Langruth and keep going for one mile, to Rd. 95; you'll be heading east on Rd.95 for 2 1/2 miles; we are the second farm on that road; you'll see the farmyard on the south side of the road, and our house is on the north side - it's a creamy stucco color.

SonSpark Lab VBS – August 10th – 14th This is a week filled with fun, laughter and great lessons from the Bible.
The program will run from 9:30am – 11:30am for preschooler’s and from 6:30pm – 9:00pm for those in kindergarten to Grade 6. You can pre-register in the church office. Volunteers needed - Check out poster to see where you can help out and sign up today. Volunteers are needed to hand out invitations the first week of August. Donations of baking needed. MINISTRY OPPORTUNITY Hamper Supplies – Canned Vegetables Donations can be dropped off in the wooden crate by the library door. All donations go out to the community to those in need. YFC is starting a teen mom/single mom group on Monday afternoons from 2-3:30pm starting soon. It will be called "Blessed!" Our need is for volunteers to provide childcare, volunteers to bake muffins or a small snack, volunteers for godly mom mentorship relationships with these moms, & for transportation.
