MEET our fitness staff! Heather Black Yoga In 2005 I attended a retreat at Ananda Ashram in Monroe, NY. It was there that I first encountered my teacher, Sri Dharma Mittra. I attended his meditation, and knew this was my path. The following year, I attended his teacher training at the Dharma Yoga Center in New York City and received my certification through the Yoga Alliance. My goal in teaching yoga is to share with others the happiness and peace I have found. Yoga aids in calming the mind and body to feel the connection that exists between all living beings. Through asana (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises) and meditation we are led to stillness. We receive all of these spiritual and mental benefits, while the physical body is becoming strong, flexible, and healthy.
