Montana Nonprofit Association Hires New Executive Director Helena, MT (Aug. 30, 2011) – The Montana Nonprofit Association (MNA) Board of Directors concluded a thorough four-month long search by selecting Liz Moore as MNA’s new Executive Director to replace Brian Magee, who announced his resignation earlier this year. Judy Held, MNA Board Chair enthusiastically introduced Liz Moore to the MNA membership in a letter this week. “Liz is a wonderful hire as MNA’s next Executive Director because she has the knowledge, skills, experience, passion, and commitment to lead MNA into the future, as articulated in MNA’s new business plan. We have found our next ‘chief advocate’ for the organization and Montana’s nonprofits.” An experienced executive leader and manager with an outstanding track record of delivering results, Ms. Moore most recently served as a member of the senior management staff of the Rocky Mountain Development Council (RMDC) in Helena. At RMDC, she gained valuable experience in program design, business planning, evaluation, and administration across a wide variety of human service programs. Liz demonstrated a remarkable capacity to galvanize effective coalitions and partnerships through her orientation to collaborative processes, an approach the MNA Board deems critical in expanding the reach and impact of the nonprofit sector. Ms. Moore is a native of eastern Montana and has experience working with organizations and communities across the state; this will be a strong asset in her new role. Her excellent communication skills and ability to convene stakeholders around shared interests and promote collaborative problem solving, make her an ideal choice to advance MNA’s efforts in member services, philanthropy, advocacy, and public policy. The MNA Board is impressed with Ms. Moore’s ability to articulate the important role nonprofit organizations – large and small and of all missions – in our society. Liz earned a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from Carroll College in 1991 and recently completed the Masters of Nonprofit Management degree offered by Regis University, a program that immersed her in public policy and organizational development, priorities central to MNA’s continued progress.
The MNA Board is confident Ms. Moore is a perfect fit to lead the implementation of MNA’s strategic direction and business plan. Held said, “The combination of Liz’s nonprofit management experience and results-driven, collaborative leadership is the right mix to strengthen and expand MNA’s work of supporting our members and nonprofits across the state.” Liz Moore will begin her duties as the MNA Executive Director after being introduced at MNA’s Annual Conference, 28-30 September 2011, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Billings. A farewell to MNA’s esteemed first Director, Brian Magee, and a warm welcome to Liz as she fills that position are included in the program for the Conference. Magee announced his resignation this spring after deciding to move back to his hometown of Pittsburgh to be closer to his wife and family. Founded in 2001 and celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, MNA is a membership organization that promotes a strong nonprofit sector in Montana. MNA achieves its mission through advocacy and public policy, access to affordable products and services, organizational development and training, research and information sharing, and network building. Representing the richness and diversity of Montana’s charitable nonprofit community, MNA’s over 600 nonprofit members address a broad array of missions, come from all four corners of the state and everywhere in between, and range in size from the smallest all-volunteer nonprofits to the largest organizations in Montana. MNA is a member of the National Council of Nonprofits that serves over 25,000 nonprofits through its network of state nonprofit associations across the country.
