REID SCHOOL OF MUSIC TOVEY MEMORIAL PRIZE

TOVEY MEMORIAL PRIZE 2017

Awarded annually on the basis of a competition, to the Undergraduate Student in Music, who shows the greatest promise in Composition or in Instrumental/Vocal Performance. The prize-winner shall not be eligible to compete again for the prize. The winner will also perform in the University lunchtime concert series. Closing Date The closing date for entries is Friday, 20th January 2017 Competition Candidates entering as performers are expected to offer a programme lasting no more than 10 minutes. Particulars (complete title, full name of composer and movement titles if applicable) as well as exact timings of the works to be performed must be given on the application form. Candidates entering as composers will be required to arrange to have their compositions performed at the Preliminary Round and, if successful then, at the Final Round. They must submit their compositions (and a note of those playing) to the Music Office not later than 20th January 2017. Compositions must not exceed 10 minutes in duration. A preliminary round will be held on Wednesday 15th February 2017, and the final round will take place on 1st March 2017 at Reid Concert Hall.
