FAITH FIRST PARENTS: Dates to Remember  3rd grade - Retreat for First Communion and First Reconciliation, Saturday, February 17th, 9:30 – 12:00  6th grade - Retreat for Confirmation and Reconciliation, Saturday, February 24th , 9:30 – 12:00 Enter by Congress Hall, 454 Rene-Levesque Blvd. W. Corner St. Alexandre. FUNERAL AND BURIAL RITES In our ever changing society, our funeral rites and burial practices have evolved. With the Church’s acceptance of cremation and all the rites that accompany this choice, and Funeral Homes now offering “one-stop” services, your family members who no longer practice the faith will frequently choose burial rites with little or no religious observance. The wishes of the parents and grandparents are not always respected. A baptized person has a right to full funeral and burial rites of the Church which include a Mass of Christian Burial where the body or ashes of the deceased are present within the Parish Church. To ensure that you receive the funeral rites and services of the Church upon death, you are advised to leave written funeral and burial instructions with your next of kin, and where they may be located when needed.

ASH WEDNESDAY Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 14th. Ashes will be blessed and distributed at the 12:10 and 5:15 p.m. masses. The ashes we use are the burnt palms from last year’s celebration of Passion Sunday. We begin our Lenten journey aware of where we are going. We want to enter into the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus for us more fully. That is the purpose of our journey. It is why we mark our heads with His cross. It is why we fast and abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday. Fasting is for people from ages 18 to 59 years of age, and abstinence from meat is for ages 14 years and older. ST.
