Manuscripts in preparation: I have collected data for a psychometric analysis of the Handling Bullying questionnaire for teachers and counselors by Ken Rigby. The online survey has been translated into Spanish and German, and Korean. We have approximately 1200 responses from around the world, with sufficient data from U. S., Canada, Australia, Austria and Germany, and Norway to do comparative analyses, and I hope to complete the manuscript by late Spring 2007. I have created a series of digital vignettes of student bullying which will be used as streaming video in an online survey of teachers’ and pre-service teachers’ responses to incidents of bullying in middle schools. There are 18 video clips, six of each scenario with different gender and racial/ethnic students involved. I am collaborating with Dr. Jina Yoon at Wayne State University to design and conduct a study using these components. The research question is ‘How do teachers and pre-service teachers respond to incidents of middle school bullying? Do those responses vary by type of bullying incident (physical, verbal, or relational), gender and/or race/ethnicity of involved students?” We expect to apply for IRB approval Fall 2007, and collect data shortly thereafter.
