Am I required to use Compass? Can I keep using my current POS hardware? The current POS hardware is being phased out. Current POS terminals will not be supported because some of the POS software has become outdated, or the software does not provide the flexibility of newer products.

  Compass is the new standard for processing credit cards at EPIC Aviation merchant locations excluding “self-serve only” locations. Self-Serve locations and locations using third-party software such as FBO Manager, Total FBO, Corridor, PRG Aviation, or internally developed systems may or may not benefit from Compass.

  Can I keep my old POS hardware as a backup? No, Compass is a direct replacement for your Point of Sale hardware. The old POS hardware will not be supported. Once the processing center has deactivated the old hardware, attempts to process cards with the old hardware will fail.

  Compass is more reliable than the current Point of Sale hardware; however, there can still be occasions when Compass will not be available, i.e. internet access is not available. During these times, the current manual imprinter backup method should be used. This does not change with Compass.

  What should I do with my old POS hardware after I install Compass? About two weeks after Compass has been installed, EPIC Aviation will contact the merchant to verify system training and operation is complete. At that time, a call tag will be issued for the return of the old hardware. Specific instructions will be given to return the old equipment to EPIC Aviation.

  Will I still need to use epiccardservices.com after installing Compass? The role of epiccardservices.com will not change when using Compass. Information on epiccardservices.com will be accessed by the Compass application just as it has been by the other POS devices. Compass will be able to take advantage of new features added to epiccardservices.com and will process transactions faster than the POS.

If I want to change my computer, will I need to reinstall Compass? Yes, each computer using Compass must complete the installation process. Depending on the type of setup, installation procedures can vary slightly. Not following the correct procedure could prevent the use of Compass. Therefore, it is important to contact EPIC Aviation support at 877.247.2772 prior to attempting any reinstallation of Compass on an existing or new computer.

Is my password safe? What if I forget my password? The myCompass.aero website is a secured website that meets all Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards including data encryption and site security certification. Because passwords are encrypted, personnel at EPIC Aviation Services cannot see your password. If you forget your password, EPIC Aviation will not be able to provide that information to you. To have your password reset, contact EPIC Aviation at 877.247.2772 to verify your identity and receive a new temporary password. 

How is the payment card account numbers protected? The myCompass.aero website is a secured website that meets all Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards including data encryption and site security certification. Credit card information is kept for a very limited time to allow payment card processing to be completed. Once the information is no longer needed, it is removed from the website. Historical data will continue to be available on epiccardservices.com.

  How can I be sure that other information in Compass is secure? The myCompass.aero website is a secured website that meets all Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) including data encryption and site security certification.   Who has access to myCompass.aero? Access is established by EPIC Aviation for the person(s) who will act as the Compass administrator(s) for your company. Only those authorized by your company are given access to your account on myCompass.aero.

  Each administrator can be limited to specific functions such as creating new users or assigning user privileges.

  How can I control access to my Compass terminals? Compass allows the administrator to determine who has access and what functions can be performed by each person accessing Compass.

  As a general rule, one CSR would log into Compass and remain logged in for an entire shift, which would allow transactions to be completed without the need to login each time. Other CSRs would also have access to that terminal to process transactions. However, many of the functions require additional verification, and only those users who are assigned privileges for those functions will be allowed access to them. An ‘Operator ID’ prompt helps you identify which CSR ran the transaction.

  Can I limit what each person can do at the Compass terminals? Compass allows the administrator to determine what access and what privileges are given to each user. The administrator can assign user functions at the time the user is added to the system and can modify those privileges at any time.

Can I keep separate invoice numbers for each of my Compass terminals? Each Compass terminal will have its own batch and invoice numbers. The batch numbers and invoice numbers can each be set to any value desired by the merchant. With multiple Compass terminals it is advisable to keep batch numbers in distinct ranges for each terminal (terminal 1 = 1000, terminal 2 = 2000, and terminal 3 = 3000.) Do I have to login every time I want to use the Compass terminal to run a transaction or will it timeout? Yes, this would allow transactions to be completed each time. Other CSRs could also have access to that terminal to process transactions. Always contact your EPIC Aviation representative prior to installing additional Compass terminals. Additional Card Readers and Thermal Printers are available at additional cost.

  Do all of my Compass terminals have to use the same printer? No, Compass allows you to use a wide variety of printers – both local and networked. Each Compass terminal can print to the same printer or to its own printer. Printer designations can be changed at any time. If one printer quits working, it is simple and quick to change to a different printer to continue processing transactions.

  Do I still need to do Price/Tax Updates with Compass? Price/Tax Updates still need to be done any time there are changes in taxes, fuel product pricing, or nonfuel product information. However, Compass has a built-in feature that allows Price/Tax Updates to be done automatically. This feature does not require human intervention, can be scheduled at any time that is convenient for merchants and ensures that the Price/Tax information is always current. It is recommended to perform Price/Tax Updates early every morning to make sure that any changes are reflected in your transactions.

  What cards will Compass be able to process? Compass has been certified to process the following payment cards: EPIC Card, American Express, Avcard, Discover, Government Air Card / DESC, MasterCard, MultiService & Visa.
