For over a hundred years, the Star & Garter has consistently celebrated the good fortune of its priceless location together with its coveted history. Originally built in the Victorian era, our Ballroom is one of Putney’s best-kept secrets. Located on the first floor, passing under the chandelier you ascend the winding staircase to enter this impressive space. With its thirty foot high ceilings, ornate plasterwork and breath taking views over the river, the room benefits from lots of natural daylight and has a light and spacious feel. Additionally the space is completely self-contained and includes its own private bar and bathrooms to ensure your big day is exclusive to you and your guests.
The Star & Garter can provide a complete day, from the ceremony to the wedding breakfast along with a dance floor to dance the night away. Under The Marriages Act of 1994, The Ballroom is licensed for civil marriage ceremonies. They are permitted by law to take place between the hours of 8am - 6pm every day of the week, including Sundays. Our Events Manager will be in attendance, not only as it is a requirement of the Registrars, but in order to offer general assistance to you and your guests throughout the day.
