Venture Capitalists of the Streets

That  lean,  decentralized  management  helps  explain  why  the  business  world  looks  at  The  Salvation  Army   with  amazement.

Management   guru   Peter   Drucker   has   famously   lauded   the   Salvation   Army   for   being   "by   far   the   most   effective   organization   in   the   U.S.,"   nonprofit   or   for-‐profit.   "No   one   even   comes   close   to   it,"   Drucker   adds,  "with  respect  to  clarity  of  mission,  ability  to  innovate,  measurable  results,  dedication,  and  putting   money  to  maximum  use."

Forbes  magazine  calculates  that  if  the  Army's  employees  and  volunteers  were  paid  at  market  rates,  the   organization  would  rank  with  the  world's  largest  companies,  and  adds  "The  Salvation  Army  can  teach  us   all  a  lot  about  how  to  run  a  business."

The   Corporate   Philanthropy   Partnership   offers   opportunities   in   The   Salvation   Army   to   align   with   the   corporate   vision   and   visible   community   commitment   of   your   company.   This   proposal   is   presented   for   corporations  to  select  those  areas  which  best  reflect  your  philanthropic  outlook.

Our  goal  is  to  build  awareness  of  corporate-‐community  partnerships  opportunities  and  to  inspire  further   involvement  among  businesses.  Designed  to  fit  businesses  of  any  size,  we  offer  volunteer  and  in-‐kind   support  as  well  as  financial  sponsorships.  Busy  CEOs  love  the  once-‐a-‐year,  one-‐stop-‐shopping  of  this   proposal.

The  Salvation  Army  occupies  a  prominent  position  in  the  American  philanthropic  landscape  by  virtue  of   both  its  size  and  its  effectiveness.  We  maximize  our  resources  by  allocating  85.66%  out  of  every  dollar   donated  to  programs  and  services  in  the  Augusta  area,  with  only  9%  toward  Administrative  and  5.34%   for   fundraising.   In   this   country   alone,   The   Salvation   Army   annually   assists   more   than   32   million   Americans.    We  also  serve  in  126  counties  around  the  world.

Gift  by  gift,  volunteer  by  volunteer,  The  Salvation  Army  has  been  building  a  legacy  of  compassion  since   1865.   The   vision   of   The   Salvation   Army   originates   from   what   first   inspired   our   founder   well   over   a   century  ago,  to  bring  hope  to  all  who  suffer  and  help  those  in  need.                   For  More  Information,  Contact:     Della  Epps             John  Sebby   Development  Manager           Director  of  Development   [email protected]       [email protected]   Phone:  706-‐434-‐3182           Phone:  706-‐434-‐3177   Cell:  706-‐421-‐2632           Cell:  706-‐550-‐2796     The  Salvation  Army,  1384  Greene  Street,  Augusta,  Georgia  30901   3

The  Kroc  Center  Endowment

You  can  change  lives  -‐  forever.  Our  endowment  is  a  source  of  permanent  financial  support.  As  our   endowment  grows,  so  does  our  ability  to  help  those  in  need.  The  endowment  is  a  self-‐renewing   resource  that  The  Salvation  Army  holds  in  perpetuity  (forever)  and  does  not  spend.  Instead,  endowed   gifts  are  invested  and  it’s  the  earnings  from  these  investments  that  help  fund  our  programs  that  changes   lives.  There  are  two  endowments  interested  donors  can  choose  from.

The  Kroc  Center  Endowment  goes  directly  to  the  Kroc  Center  and  will  ensure  that  the  programs  and   scholarships  offered  at  the  Kroc  Center  will  continue  to  be  a  transforming  force  in  Augusta.       “We  can  help  bring  our  city  together  by  declaring  our  love  to  all  of  its  children  and  showing  them  the   faith  we  have  in  their  future.”  said  Joan  Kroc.  While  the  center  is  open  to  all,  it  was  Mrs.  Kroc's  greatest   hope  that  it  would  help  young  people  realize  their  potential  through  the  various  programs  and   opportunities  it  offers.           Auto  Auction     By  donating  your  used  vehicle  to  The  Salvation  Army,  you  can  help  lift  someone  out  of  despair  and     get  them  back  on  the  road  to  recovery.  Proceeds  from  The  Salvation  Army's  auto  auction  directly     support  our  substance  abuse  rehabilitation  program.  Auctions  are  held  at  1384  Greene  Street  on  the     first  Saturday  of  February,  June,  and  October.  For  more  information:  www.salvationarmycars.com     To  schedule  a  vehicle  pickup/drop-‐off                Call:  706-‐826-‐7933  ext.  127

Sebastian’s  Gift   "Today  our  child  brought  us  both  to  tears.  You  see  we  haven't  had   this  easiest  of  times  this  year.  Angela  just  got  her  degree  and  I  got   laid  off  in  April  from  my  job.  We've  both  been  actively  looking  for   work  and  I've  found  some  piece  work,  but  nothing  steady.

We've  been  struggling  with  bills  and  dreading  Christmas.  When  we   got  to  the  store  we  did  not  want  to  hear  the  ringing  of  the  bell  or   see  the  person  with  that  bucket.  Not  because  we  didn't  want  to   give,  but  because  it's  a  reminder  of  the  fast  approaching  holiday                      and  how  unprepared  we  are  to  deal  with  them.

We  tried  to  walk  by  the  kettle  with  no  eye  contact,  but  alas,  it  was  our  three  year  old  son  who  walked  up   to  the  man  and  said  "Wait,  I  have  money  for  you."  He  took  out  his  tiny  Velcro  wallet  and  dumped  the   few  pennies  he  had  collected  from  around  the  house  in  the  kettle.

Our  child,  who  hasn't  had  the  nicest  newest  toys  or  a  fancy   vacation  this  summer,  gave  every  penny  he  had  to  someone   who  had  nothing.  30  seconds  later  we  stood  humbled,   embarrassed  and  crying  in  the  produce  section.  Our  child   reminded  us  that  we  had  each  other  and  a  roof  over  our   head  and  that's  more  than  some  people.  Thank  you   Sebastian.  Daddy  and  Mommy  are  very  very  proud  of  you."
