Venture Capitalists of the Streets
That lean, decentralized management helps explain why the business world looks at The Salvation Army with amazement.
Management guru Peter Drucker has famously lauded the Salvation Army for being "by far the most effective organization in the U.S.," nonprofit or for-‐profit. "No one even comes close to it," Drucker adds, "with respect to clarity of mission, ability to innovate, measurable results, dedication, and putting money to maximum use."
Forbes magazine calculates that if the Army's employees and volunteers were paid at market rates, the organization would rank with the world's largest companies, and adds "The Salvation Army can teach us all a lot about how to run a business."
The Corporate Philanthropy Partnership offers opportunities in The Salvation Army to align with the corporate vision and visible community commitment of your company. This proposal is presented for corporations to select those areas which best reflect your philanthropic outlook.
Our goal is to build awareness of corporate-‐community partnerships opportunities and to inspire further involvement among businesses. Designed to fit businesses of any size, we offer volunteer and in-‐kind support as well as financial sponsorships. Busy CEOs love the once-‐a-‐year, one-‐stop-‐shopping of this proposal.
The Salvation Army occupies a prominent position in the American philanthropic landscape by virtue of both its size and its effectiveness. We maximize our resources by allocating 85.66% out of every dollar donated to programs and services in the Augusta area, with only 9% toward Administrative and 5.34% for fundraising. In this country alone, The Salvation Army annually assists more than 32 million Americans. We also serve in 126 counties around the world.
Gift by gift, volunteer by volunteer, The Salvation Army has been building a legacy of compassion since 1865. The vision of The Salvation Army originates from what first inspired our founder well over a century ago, to bring hope to all who suffer and help those in need. Christmas Thousands of families in the greater Augusta area struggle to provide Christmas gifts to their children. The Salvation Army, with your help, can provide these families with a wonderful Christmas. Join us in continuing this Christmas tradition!
Bell Ringing at the Red Kettle Share the holiday season with a sponsorship of our famous Red Kettles Best known for our Red Kettle at Christmas, what more appropriate way to share the holiday season with your co-‐workers than by ringing the bell at your chosen location. Since 1891, our iconic red kettles have been a familiar Salvation Army tradition. Money raised through these kettles provides much needed funding for The Salvation Army's programs and services all year.
We depend on local volunteers to ring bells at various kettle locations to encourage these donations. Our kettle season begins with our Kettle Kick-‐Off in November and ends by Christmas Eve. Volunteers are needed Monday – Saturday, in a variety of locations to choose from throughout the Augusta area. Businesses, individuals, clubs, churches, schools and organizations can sign up to ring for shifts, whole days, a couple of days, a week, or for the entire season.

Food 2 Fight Hunger July at Area Kroger Locations
Join Richmond County and The Salvation Army of the Greater Augusta Area or Columbia County and the Evans Lions Club to build the tallest food pyramid in our annual Food 2 Fight Hunger completion. Teams will be collecting canned foods items at the Augusta and Evans Kroger stores and will use these items to build the pyramids.
The food collected in Richmond County will benefit The Salvation Army’s soup kitchen and food pantry, while the food collected in Columbia County will benefit the Columbia County Cares food pantry and New Hope / First Baptist Church Bridge Ministry. These donations come at a time of great need, as our food pantry is nearly empty during the summer. The summer months historically show a drop in donations and an increase in need.
The Salvation Army / Richmond County team won the 2013 competition with a food pyramid weighing in at 2,580 lbs., while the Columbia County / Evans Lions Club team weighed just under 2,500 lbs. The towers were 17.6 feet and 14 feet in height. Mark Lorah, a structural engineer with Johnson, Laschober & Assoc. was the builder of The Salvation Army’s canned food pyramid. The Kroc Center Endowment
You can change lives -‐ forever. Our endowment is a source of permanent financial support. As our endowment grows, so does our ability to help those in need. The endowment is a self-‐renewing resource that The Salvation Army holds in perpetuity (forever) and does not spend. Instead, endowed gifts are invested and it’s the earnings from these investments that help fund our programs that changes lives. There are two endowments interested donors can choose from.
The Kroc Center Endowment goes directly to the Kroc Center and will ensure that the programs and scholarships offered at the Kroc Center will continue to be a transforming force in Augusta. “We can help bring our city together by declaring our love to all of its children and showing them the faith we have in their future.” said Joan Kroc. While the center is open to all, it was Mrs. Kroc's greatest hope that it would help young people realize their potential through the various programs and opportunities it offers. Auto Auction By donating your used vehicle to The Salvation Army, you can help lift someone out of despair and get them back on the road to recovery. Proceeds from The Salvation Army's auto auction directly support our substance abuse rehabilitation program. Sebastian’s Gift "Today our child brought us both to tears. You see we haven't had this easiest of times this year. Angela just got her degree and I got laid off in April from my job. We've both been actively looking for work and I've found some piece work, but nothing steady.
We've been struggling with bills and dreading Christmas. When we got to the store we did not want to hear the ringing of the bell or see the person with that bucket. Not because we didn't want to give, but because it's a reminder of the fast approaching holiday and how unprepared we are to deal with them.
We tried to walk by the kettle with no eye contact, but alas, it was our three year old son who walked up to the man and said "Wait, I have money for you." He took out his tiny Velcro wallet and dumped the few pennies he had collected from around the house in the kettle.
Our child, who hasn't had the nicest newest toys or a fancy vacation this summer, gave every penny he had to someone who had nothing. 30 seconds later we stood humbled, embarrassed and crying in the produce section. Our child reminded us that we had each other and a roof over our head and that's more than some people. Thank you Sebastian. Daddy and Mommy are very very proud of you."
