Readiness & Planning Q: When will Emdeon’s Edit, Connect and Clinical Exchange eRxNetwork pharmacy solutions be ready for the ICD-10 conversion?
A: NCPDP’s standards are already in place and technically allow the use of ICD-10 codes today. Emdeon’s Edit, Connect and Clinical Exchange eRxNetwork solutions accommodate the syntax and structure required to support ICD-10 data content.
Pharmacy Edits Q: Will Emdeon no longer support ICD-9 codes after the compliance date? A: Emdeon’s Connect, Edit and Clinical Exchange eRxNetwork products are not anticipating providing any date-driven edits before or after the compliance date, so ICD-9 codes will not be rejected. We remain neutral and will continue to support both ICD-9 and ICD-10 after the compliance date.
Emdeon can technically accept ICD-10 codes now given that the fields designed to accept the ICD-10 qualifiers and codes are part of the current NCPDP Script and Telecommunications transaction standards. We can discuss with customers any editing requirements that they may have regarding the use of ICD-10.
Customer Testing Q: How and when can I test with Emdeon Edit, Connect, and Clinical Exchange eRxNetwork?
A: The current HIPAA-approved transaction standards (NCPDP D.0 and Script) technically allow for ICD-10 qualifiers and codes. No testing is required with Emdeon for these products.
Customer Impact Q: Will a mapping or crosswalk strategy be used between ICD-9 and ICD-10 code sets? A: At this time Emdeon does not intend to implement a crosswalk between ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes.
Q: Are there any new hardware requirements associated with ICD-10-related software changes?
A: There are no additional hardware requirements for Emdeon Edit, Connect, and Clinical Exchange eRxNetwork based upon the industry transition to ICD-10.
Q: What are the costs involved? Will modifications and upgrades be covered by existing contracts?
A: No modifications or upgrades to Emdeon software are required. Emdeon will not assess any related additional charges for supporting ICD-10 codes.
Q: Will customer support and training be provided for any new ICD-10-related functionality, and is there a charge?
A: Emdeon pharmacy plans to have customer support in place for ICD-10 questions relating to Emdeon’s products with no additional related charges.
