Eaton Internship Program – Technical Sales Job Description: Eaton’s North American Technical Sales Internship Program is for students who are pursuing a degree in general engineering – electrical, mechanical, manufacturing or industrial, marketing, industrial distribution, or engineering technology. The objective of the internship program is to develop students in the sales function in the electrical and manufacturing industry through practical experiences, as well as assist in the personal development of leadership competencies through training, networking and coaching. The assignment will help the participant develop a wide range of leadership and functional competencies within the field of sales, marketing and/or sales engineering through exposure to selling of electrical and industrial distribution products, solutions, and value in a competitive marketplace within a team environment to distributors, contractors, consultants and end customers. Participants will be assigned meaningful and challenging projects in their sales offices while performing other duties that might include: project take-off and bid preparations; preparation of bills of materials, terms and conditions, and pricing; preparation of submittals, quotations follow-up, negotiating tracking; administration of change orders; support to Inside Sales and Outside Field Sales Engineers; and other responsibilities as assigned by the manager. There will also be several training opportunities available throughout the internship experience. In order for you to maximize your experience in gaining customer and sales knowledge and to complete your project work assignments, you may be required to travel to various regional locations which could include, but are not limited to, customer sites, end user sites, and other Eaton locations, and you will be responsible for securing your own transportation to these locations. Eaton Leadership Development Program – Applications Engineering Job Description: Throughout the training cycle, Eaton’s Applications Engineering Leadership Development Program will provide participants with meaningful projects where individual efforts and contributions are critical to our businesses. Qualified participants will receive multiple opportunities for formal training, networking, and coaching in addition to receiving ongoing formal feedback in order to evaluate personal progress and identify development opportunities. Participants will spend nine months in the Applications Engineering function and the remaining three months in the associated plant’s Sales Engineering function at each location. Both positions will give the participants exposure to manufacturing and test functions, Eaton Field Sales and Applications Engineers, and end customers. An optional third year assignment will give participants the opportunity to work in a field application engineering role.
