2016 Clinic Schedule Pre-Fishing Derby: Instructors: Gary Ginter - Semi-Pro Fisherman June 27 & 28, 2016 at Tawawa Lake at Tawawa Park 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. - Grades K-8 Participants need to bring fishing poles. Participants will learn basic ways to cast, pitch and flip fishing poles; use of basic types of lures versus live bait; basic ways to increase their fish catching ability and to tie a good knot. Also, Gary will be displaying his fishing boat that he uses during his fishing competition. Come and learn how to properly fish. 2016 Stories In The Parks Hosted by: Sidney Parks and Recreation in conjunction with Amos Memorial Library. Offered each Wednesday from June 8 July 20 at 11:00 a.m. Included in the 30-45 minute session will be stories and some group activities. No registration is necessary. The program schedule is as follows: June 8 Green Tree Park June 15 Riverbend Park June 22 Berger Park June 29 HarmonPark July 6 Sherman Park July 13 Deam Park July 20 Chief O’Leary Park If inclement weather occurs Stories in the Park will take place at Amos Memorial Library in the Art Gallery. Pool Games, Events & Fun: Instructors: Parks & Recreation Dept. August 8 at Sidney Municipal Pool 9:30 - 10:15 am K-6 We will offer relay races, balloon toss and biggest splash contest. Come and have a great morning at the pool. Must pre-register by August 5, 2016. Movie Day Sponsored by Movie Day at the Senior Center at 304 S. West Avenue June 10th K-8 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. Popcorn will be served, bring a drink. A rated G to PG movie will be shown those days. Checking Out The Creek: Instructor: Lynda Adams with Soil & Water Conservation July 7th at Tawawa Park at the creek. Meet at Geib Pavilion. K-3 1:30 - 2:30 pm 4-8 2:30 - 3:30 pm Participants MUST wear tennis shoes or shoes that strap on their feet. NO FLIP FLOPS. Participants will be wading in the water and using nets to try and catch living organisms living in the water. Be prepared to get wet. Must pre-register by July 2nd, 2016.

Fun Fitness

Instructors: Anytime Fitness Experts Super-Hero Themed- We encourage the children to dress up as their favorite hero!! Grades K-8 at Geib Pavilion at Tawawa Park June 7th & 28th July 5th & 26th August 2nd Events: 10 minutes of stretching 20 minutes of kid-friendly cardio 10-15 minutes of relay/cool down Ending the session with 10-15 minutes of healthy tips about eating and self-development appropriate for children. 9

New 2016 Clinics: Party in the Park

Hosted by: Amos Library “Party in the Park” is an active, social event for summer Library Program participants and guest. Each week will feature new games, activities and a snack. The final party on July 21 will include ages K-12 in an Olympic Challenge. Attendants should wear comfortable clothes and be ready to move! No registration necessary. Walk in the Park

Instructors: Parks and Recreation Dept. Takes steps to get fit while exploring nature in our beautiful Tawawa Park. Kids will explore different trails in Tawawa Park. Meet at Geib Pavilion in Tawawa Park. Please be sure that kids wear comfortable walking shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Kids will walk between 1-2 miles per session. Every Monday and Wednesday from July 11th through August 3rd Grades: K-8 9:30-10:15 a.m. Geib Pavilion at Tawawa Park Must pre-register by July 5th 6

Kids in Motion

Instructors: Parks and Recreation Dept. Get children moving by introducing them to physical activity in a fun, non-competitive environment. This clinic will include organized sports, games, fitness demos, and guided walks. Every Tuesday and Thursday from July 12th through July 21st Grades: K-8 9:30-10:15 a.m. Geib Pavilion at Tawawa Park Must pre-register by July 5th

Touch a Truck

Instructors: Parks and Recreation Dept. Children who want to know more about their favorite trucks. There will be construction vehicles, public works trucks and a street sweeper. Come and learn and explore the different equipment. This will take place at Geib Pavilion at Tawawa Park. Grades K-5 June 17th

Dance

Kids Water Aerobics

Everything that Flies

Instructors: Parks and Recreation Dept. Each session, we will explore something that flies from birds, planes and kites. Each session will be held at the shelter house at Custenborder Fields. Make a lawn using old sheets

Instructors: Parks and Recreation Dept. Make your own art canvas using an old sheet. You provide the old sheet and we will provide the arts and craft supplies and let your imagination do the rest. Books and Game Swap

Instructors: Parks and Recreation Dept. Do you have video games, books, or CD’s that are in good condition but you don’t use them anymore? This clinic will give you an opportunity to exchange those used items for different ones at no charge. For each item you drop off, you will be given one ticket that can be used to exchange for a different game, book or CD.
